Unpaid Carers Project

This project provides immediate holistic person centred advice, information and representation to unpaid carers & support to colleagues working with unpaid carers and where necessary, refers and support clients to access appropriate advice agencies.  The advice and representation offered will focus on the consequences of the Welfare Reform Act and the economic downturn – seeking to resolve the practical barriers and stressors that impact on Unpaid Carers, primarily (but not exclusively) Money, Benefits, Debt and Housing. This innovative service to the Unpaid Carers community will: support income maximisation & represent clients at Social Security Appeal Tribunals and Disability Appeal tribunals.

The project will also support the cared for person, as it is proven that offering the same level of support to the cared for person benefits the carer. Please get in touch to see what support is available to help you carry on in your vital role. Organisations are welcome to make contact, to discuss collaborative working or how to make direct referrals.      

Some examples of work includes: Representing a cared for person with their appointee at Tribunal, Applying for respite holiday funding, Support with energy costs and Funding for Disability related equipment.

Eligibility: Resident of either Stirling or Clackmannanshire council areas and provide Unpaid care (being on Carer Allowance similar does not count as being paid)

Important: An Unpaid Carer can only refer themselves to the project. If you would like support for your cared-for person please complete the referral for yourself. An initial conversation can then be had around the situation, and consent from the cared-for person can be sought.

Mobilise

Caring for a family member or friend in Clackmannanshire and Stirling?

If you look after someone regularly, perhaps a parent, partner, child, sibling, or neighbour or friend, Mobilise are here to support you in your caring role. They are working in partnership with the Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership to provide a range of free online services to support you, in addition to what is already on offer.
